Abstract | Lewis Clark Hanes (born 1827) was a merchant of Fulton, Davie County, N.C., and quartermaster in Salisbury, N.C., for the 48th North Carolina Regiment of the Confederate army. The collection includes business and military papers. Business papers, 1846-1850, are bills, advertisements, correspondence, and other items relating to an apparent dry goods merchant. Military papers, 1862-1865, include muster rolls, vouchers, special requisitions for the sick, and other quartermaster's records, including a volume of weekly accounts of forage received by Hanes as quartermaster, 1864-1865. |
