Abstract Mary B. Heyer was a historian of the Cape Fear Camp of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The collection includes notebooks containing recollections of the Civil War experiences of about a dozen Confederate soldiers from the Cape Fear region of North Carolina, and other miscellaneous material, chiefly printed items relating to the Confederate war effort or the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The recollections were compiled by Heyer, presumably after they were presented orally to her by the veterans.

The collection includes notebooks containing recollections of the Civil War experiences of about a dozen Confederate soldiers from the Cape Fear region of North Carolina, and other miscellaneous material, chiefly printed items relating to the Confederate war effort or the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The recollections were compiled by Mary B. Heyer, presumably after they were presented orally to her by the veterans. Some persons represented in the papers include James E. Bell, David Franklin Aman, William h. Williams, Richard Reeves, James A. Montgomery, Albert W. Baldwin, John R. Turrentine, Henry Robert Kuhl, Walter G. McRae, W. D. McMillan, Michael T. Davis, Simon B. Taylor, Kate Davis Walker, and Mrs. A. P. Rose.
