Abstract | Archibald McFadyen (1836-1911) served in the 5th North Carolina Cavalry during the American Civil War and later was a Presbyterian minister of Bladen County, N.C. The collection contains records of marriages McFadyen performed in southeastern North Carolina and Alabama and of fees received, 1868-1911, along with text for a wedding service (handwritten); his autograph book, 1862 from the University of North Carolina; a notebook of autographs and verse he kept while imprisoned during the American Civil War at Johnson's Island, Ohio; and his official discharge papers from prison, June 1865. |
