Abstract Walter James Forbes Liddell (died 1889) was the owner and manager of the Liddell Engine Company (later Liddell and Co.), a manufacturing firm of Charlotte, N.C. His son, Walter S. Liddell, managed the firm after his father's death. The collection is records, chiefly 1880s-1890s, of the Liddell Engine Company. Included are business correspondence, accounts, receipts, promissory notes, deeds, blueprints, and printed patents of the Liddell Engine Company and its successor Liddell and Co., manufacturers of engines, cotton presses, and circular saw mills. There is no Civil War material. Volumes are private accounts of W. J. F. Liddell, 1866-1874, and miscellaneous accounts, 1884-1888.
