Abstract The Simpson family of Tallassee, Tallapoosa County, Ala., included Lieutenant James M. Simpson, 13th Alabama Infantry Regiment, Confederate States of America, who served in Virginia. The complete collection exists on microfilm, and includes personal letters between Simpson and his mother and his wife, Addie Alden Simpson, describing, among other matters, religious life in camp, the Battle of Gettysburg, and family and community news from Tallassee. Also included are a letter from J. Wheeler to the citizens of Tennessee calling for more volunteers, an autobiographical sketch of Charles Teed Pollard (born 1805) of Alabama(?), written in 1887, and love letters between James and Addie Simpson.
