Abstract | Members of the Bond family and Fentriss family include Louisa Fentriss Bond, her children, John M. Bond, T. C. Bond, and Sarah P. Bond Harlan, and her father, Frederick Fentriss, of Guilford County, N.C. The collection includes family correspondence of Louisa Fentriss Bond of Clay County, Mo. The bulk of the collection consists of letters received from her father, Frederick Fentriss, and other relatives describing their everyday life and concerns as Quakers in Guilford County, N.C., chiefly 1881-1895, but also in the 1840s. Other items include Civil War letters from her sons, John M. and T. C. Bond, in the federal army and from her daughter, Sarah P. Bond Harlan, describing disorders and guerilla warfare around Clinton County, Mo. One letter from Harlan, 19 April 1865, mentions the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
