Abstract | Charles W. Sydnor (fl. 1863-1867) of Frederick County, Va., served as a surgeon in the Confederate army. The collection includes letters from Sydnor while serving in field hospitals of the Army of Northern Virginia, to his fiancee, later wife, Mary Louisa Davis (born 1843), of Lovingston, Nelson County, Va., describing his activities and his feelings for her.
