Abstract Thomas Pearson, of Asheville, N.C., was an economic advisor to several foreign countries, including Persia (later Iran), 1922-1927; the Dominican Republic, 1937-1941; and Haiti, 1941-1947. The collection includes selected items documenting Pearson's career, including letters of commendation, appointments and commissions, photographs, and typed versions of miscellaneous articles, travel essays, and poems by him, relating to his service in Persia, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. Included is a letter in Spanish, 23 November 1938, from Rafael L. Trujillo Molina.

The collection includes selected items documenting Thomas Pearson's career, including letters of commendation, appointments and commissions, and typed versions of miscellaneous articles, travel essays, and poems by him, relating to his service in Persia, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. There are also a few items related to Pearson's service with the United States Army, Expeditionary Forces, and some communications with government officials of the United States, Dominican Republic, and Haiti. Included is a letter in Spanish, 23 November 1938, from Rafael L. Trujillo Molina. Other correspondents include M. de J. Tronosco de la Concha, Joseph E. Davies, Cordell Hull, and Gaston Margron. There are also 15 photoportraits, informal photographs and snapshots, and group pictures of Thomas Pearson or related to his life. Among them is one picture of the North Carolina Supreme Court Justices, 1957 (published picture, autographed by J. Wallace Winborne to his former pupil). Nine of the pictures relate to Pearson's work in Persia.
