Abstract Cornelia Spencer Love was a librarian at the University of North Carolina, 1917-1948; author of When Chapel Hill was a Village, 1976; and granddaughter of Cornelia Phillips Spencer (1825-1908). The collection includes writings, correspondence, a scrapbook, photographs, and a few other items of Love. Included are drafts of When Chapel Hill was a Village; letters about the book, including anecodotes about life in Chapel Hill; and letters, 1898-1946, to Love from relatives and friends concerning family and personal matters. These letters include many, 1914-1916, from Love's mother, June Spencer Love, and letters from the same period from James Spencer Love about his life as a Harvard undergraduate.
