Sweaney received a certificate in medicine from the University of North Carolina in 1917. The Addition of 2016 includes two additional student notebooks, a notebook from classmate William Gilliam Wilson Jr, and three account books for surgeries performed by Sweaney at Watts Hospital in Durham, N.C.
