Abstract The Coalition for Alternatives to Shearon Harris (CASH) was an organization founded in the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster in spring of 1986 to oppose the opening of Carolina Power and Light Company's Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant in Wake County, N.C. The collection contains primarily news clippings, flyers, public relations information, and legislative information collected by the Coalition for Alternatives to Shearon Harris, probably to use as resources for creating its own literature. Primary topics include safety issues at nuclear power plants following the Chernobyl incident, the economics of nuclear power, issues of waste disposal, criticisms of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the Carolina Power and Light Company.
