Abstract | Edward J. Chilton was a student at the University of North Carolina who served in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. He was born in Brownsville, Tenn., in October 1840. After working as a farmer, he entered the University of North Carolina in 1859, where he was a member of the Dialectic Society. He died at the Siege of Yorktown in 1862.
