Back to TopThe collection includes family, social, and political correspondence of Florence Faison Butler. Many of the papers relate to Butler's involvement in the Colonial Dames and the United Daughters of the Confederacy and include receipts for dues, appointments, records, and other items, particularly concerning the 1912 convention of the United Daughters of the Confederacy held in Washington, D.C. There are also a number of letters pertaining to the League of Republican Women, the presidential election of 1928, and the political situation in North Carolina. Among the remaining correspondence are letters from Marion Butler to his wife while he was attending the legislature in Raleigh, N.C., 1897; undated letters from the Butler children; and a few letters addressed to Marion Butler on legal and personal matters. Also included is a group of clippings on varied topics.
