Abstract | Thomas N. Gautier was the commander of the United States naval forces at Wilmington, N.C., 1808-1813. The collection includes chiefly correspondence, 1884-1907, of the descendants of Thomas Nicholas Gautier and his wife, Eliza Ann Brown Gautier (1806-1870), concerning members of the Gautier and Galloway families of North Carolina and England. Earlier papers consist primarily of family records; and a letter book containing handwritten copies of letters that Gautier wrote as commander of the naval forces at Wilmington, N.C., 1808-1813. |
