Abstract Railroad executive and editor of the "Charlotte Observer," 1892-1935. Business and personal correspondence of Harris while he was editor of the "Charlotte Observer" and other papers. Included are two scrapbooks of newspaper clippings; a guest book, 1917, of soldiers stationed at Camp Greene, N.C.; an account book, 1875-1876, of the Concord (N.C.) "Sun"; and an account book, 1891-1895, for the "Charlotte Daily." Among the papers are letters from friends and associates including James B. Duke, Angus W. McLean, and other prominent persons; and letters of condolence and tribute after Harris's death.
