Abstract | William Hooper of North Carolina was a leader in the American Revolution and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The collection contains a biographical sketch of William Hooper by his nephew Archibald Maclaine Hooper that appeared in the Hillsboro Recorder in 1822; a letter from James H. Craig, British commander at Wilmington, N.C., to Hooper, 1781, concerning business of the North Carolina revolutionary government; and a writ signed by Hooper in the 1770 Chatham County, N.C., case of Peter O'Neal versus Charles Harrington. |
