Joseph W. Lyman was a sugar planter of Franklin, La. The collection is a letter, 16 March 1831, from Lyman to his grandfather, Moses Long,
of Hopkinton, N.H., discussing planting conditions around Franklin, La., giving a
physical description of the area, and explaining the growing and processing of sugar
cane.
