Abstract |
The collection contains papers, chiefly 1775-1853,
accumulated by Joseph McKnitt Alexander and others relating to the Mecklenburg
Declaration and Resolves of May 1775, and the controversy over them, including
later
testimony of witnesses and copies of documents, papers of North Carolina officials
concerning the publication of a pamphlet on the subject in 1831, and later letters
related to aspects of the controversy.
