Abstract | Henry Young Webb (b. 1822), a native of Lincoln County, N.C., was a student at the University of North Carolina from 1841-1844; an M.D. student at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa.; and practiced medicine in Eutaw, Ala. The diary of Webb contains an intermittent record of activities and thoughts while he was a student at the University of North Carolina and later, while he was studying medicine at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, as well as one long entry from 1858. Included in the diary are copies of poems, a list of expenses, and family data. Also included is one letter from Webb in Richmond, Va., to his wife, 1861, reporting on his trip to Richmond. |
