Abstract | Mattie Holton Wilcox (1833-1904) lived in Warrenton, N.C., and was the mother of Maurice Wilcox (1860-1879). The collection is six letters, 1878, from Maurice Wilcox, a student at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C., to his mother; three letters to Maurice Wilcox from friends; an account of Wilcox's expenses at U.N.C.; and a tuition bill. Topics of correspondence include Maurice Wilcox's studies, his friends, boarding, and literary societies. Also included are microfilmed letters (1802-1807, 1851) from Daniel Webster to his friend Reverend Thomas A. Merrill, a teacher at Hanover, N.H., and Middelbury, Vt. |
