Abstract | St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Edenton, N.C., was organized in 1701. Materials include a microfilmed volume with minutes of the vestry and other records, 1701-1776; records of the Overseers of the Poor, 1778- 1779; and an account of the services of Rev. Charles Pettigrew, 1781. Also included is a copy of the 1776 declaration of independence of the vestry of St. Paul's Church; and a typed copy of the 1846 indenture relating to maintenance of the Pettigrew burial ground. Materials from the 1880s through the 1930s include letters, financial documents, membership lists, club reports, and a few items relating to the Diocese of East Carolina and to the activities of other Episcopal churches. In the 1940s and 1950s, there are similar materials with the addition of many items relating to the work of the St. Paul's Restoration and Building committees, including copies of earlier documents relating to the church's architectural history and financial items documenting work done during the restoration/building process. In the 1960s through the 1990s, most items relate to general church operations. |
