Abstract | Jane Sivley (fl. 1862-1867) of Raymond, Miss., was educated in Marion, Ala. The collection includes letters received by Sivley while she was in school in Marion, Ala., from her mother, Eliza Hodges Burleson Sivley of Raymond, Miss., concerning family matters, the Civil War, and how Jane should behave; and from her brother and cousins in the Confederate Army, from Vicksburg and other locations in Mississippi and with the 45th Mississippi Infantry; and from other cousins and friends at home during the Civil War, concerning social life, romance, and daily activities. |
