The collection contains miscellaneous items including a letter, 1803, from Samuel Ashe to his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, offering condolences on the death of her husband and his son, John Baptista Ashe; a copy of the will of Samuel Ashe, 1812, New Hanover County, N.C.; and newspaper clippings discussing Governor Ashe and the founding of Asheville, N.C.
