Abstract | John B. Lagarde was the son of Ernest Lagarde (1836-1914) of New Orleans, La. The collection includes a scrapbook, containing chiefly newspaper clippings, but also a few other items, circa 1859-1870, relating to the Dimitry family of New Orleans, La., particularly Alexander Dimitry; and another, 1900-1919, relating to the family of Ernest Lagarde of Louisiana, Alabama, and Maryland. Each contains a number of clippings concerning national and international events. |

John B. Lagarde was president of the Lagarde, Alabama, Lime and Stone Company. He was the son of Ernest Lagarde (1836-1914), a native of New Orleans, La., and professor for many years at Mt. St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Md.; and brother of Ernest Lagard (born 1864), secretary of the Panama Canal Zone and businessman in Mexico, Louis Lagarde of New Orleans, La., and Alice Lagarde who married Chevalier Ferrata.
