Abstract | John Ballanfant of Pleasant Grove, Maury County, Tenn., was graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1844. The collection contains a letter, 4 February 1845, from E. C. Grier, Mocksville, N.C., to Ballanfant, congratulating him on his marriage and discussing Grier's law studies and social life; Ballanfant's Dialectic Society (University of North Carolina) oration, 1844; and a letter, January 1845, to Ballanfant, from T. T. Slade of Craigsville, N.C., describing his social life and giving news of friends. Grier and Slade were graduated from the University of North Carolina with Ballanfant. |
