Gustave Maurice Braune (1872-1930) was dean of engineering at the University of North Carolina, 1922-1930. Braune was born in Eutaw, Ala., and was educated at Spring Hill College, Mobile, Ala., and the Royal Polytechnic Institute at Dresden, Germany. He was a construction engineer for several years and was at the University of Cincinnati, 1912-1921, where he became head of the Engineering Deparment. He was married to Ida Stoelker Braune of Montgomery, Ala. Their daughter was Anna Braune.
