Abstract | The collection includes two manuscript books of vocal music from Mecklenburg County, N.C. One volume, 30 pages, dated 1785, was presumably compiled by Archibald Woodside. The other, 76 pages, 1813, is inscribed with several different names, including Samuel W. Reid, Rebecca McDowell, and John W. Herron. Both volumes contain words, tunes, and instructions to singers. |
