Martin W. B. Armstrong (fl. 1815-1819) attended the University of North Carolina, 1814-1819, but did not graduate from that institution.

The collection includes the correspondence of Armstrong while he was a student at the University of North Carolina, with his father, Thomas T. Armstrong, at Raleigh, N.C., and Germantown, N.C., and letters to Martin Armstrong from university officials and college friends, William Mercer Green, Hamilton C. Jones, Charles Dixon Donoho, and George W. Sharpe. Most letters relate to student disturbances in 1816 and 1819; letters from Thomas Armstrong offer fatherly advice.
