Abstract | Thomas William Gaither (1840-1863) and J. Burgess Gaither (d. 1864) were Confederate soldiers with the 4th, and probably the 18th and 19th, North Carolina Infantry regiments in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. They were the sons of John J. Gaither of Houstonville, N.C. Civil War letters of brothers Thomas William and J. Burgess Gaither. Included are letters from friends and relatives in Iredell County, N.C., describing local events. Also included are a few legal notebooks, 1826-1834, and a legal case book, circa 1830, of the Gaither family. There are also several clippings, 1960-1961, about the Civil War letters. |
