Abstract | The North Carolina Good Health Association, Inc., headquartered in Durham, N.C., was a public relations organization which promoted the activities of the North Carolina Medical Care Commission, a state agency. The Association engaged chiefly in popularizing the building of hospitals, nursing education, and health insurance in rural North Carolina. The collection includes office files of Henry C. Cranford, executive director of the North Carolina Good Health Association, circa 1946-1952, and of George Watts Hill, member of the organization's Board of Directors. Files include promotional material, pictures, and clippings. There is a sizeable group of promotional photographs some of notable persons including Ava Gardner, Isaac Greer, Kay Kyser, Red Skelton, Josephus Daniels, Frank Porter Graham, and Kerr Scott, among others. |
