Henry Leonidas Morrison (b. 1836) of Scotts Cross Roads, Iredell County, N.C., was a school teacher and farmer. He was married to Margaret I. Brown (1837-1893).
Back to TopThe collection contains scattered papers and family letters of Henry Leonidas Morrison, including teaching certificates issued to him; directions, 1863, for weaving a tablecloth; and reports, 1890-1893, on a student at Statesville Female College. There is also an oath, 1862, signed by Morrison as a recruit joining the North Carolina State Troops; a letter, 1864, describing an Episcopal church service at Wilkesboro, N.C.; applications for positions at in the Internal Revenue Service, 5th District; petitions, 1884 and 1887, for Amity Presbyterian Church near Statesville, N.C., to the Presbytery to supply a minister; and items, 1895-1896, concerning the donation of a lot by Morrison for a school site in Iredell County.
