Abstract | Lucy Ann Hill Elliott (1840-1924) of Brooklyn, N.Y., was born near Scotland Neck, N.C., to Whitmel J. and Lavinia Barnes Hill. She had five siblings, one of whom was Thomas Norfleet Hill (1838-1904). The collection includes biographical, autobiographical, and genealogical sketches of members of the Hill family of Halifax County, N.C., and their relatives, compiled by Lucy Ann Hill Elliott of Brooklyn, N.Y. Included is an autobiographical sketch (5 pages) of Lucy Elliott describing her life as a student at St. Mary's School, Raleigh, N.C., in the 1850s and home life in Warrenton, N.C., 1840s-1860s. |
