Abstract | Otto Stuhlman Junior was a professor of physics at the University of North Carolina, 1920-1965. The collection includes scrapbooks, correspondence, and other materials relating to his activities as a scientist and a teacher at the University of North Carolina, as well as the University of Pennsylvania, 1912-1917; the State University of Iowa, 1917-1919; and West Virginia University, 1919-1920. Also included are materials relating to the history of the Stuhlman, Wilbur, and Wilson families, and annotated copies of his book, An Introduction to Biophysics (1943). |

Otto Stuhlman (1884-1965) was a professor of physics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1920-1965. Stuhlman was born in Germany to Otto and Elizabeth Hensman Stuhlman. He was educated in the United States at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the University of Illinois. He was an instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, 1912-1917; the State University of Iowa, 1917-1919; and West Virginia University, 1919-1920; before joining the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1921.
