Abstract | Louis Philip Morrison (born circa 1819) served in the United States army with the 8th New York Infantry Regiment. He married Rebecca Thacher of Massachusetts in 1851 or 1852. The collection includes microfilm and photocopies of the correspondence of Morrison, whose parents lived in Galena, Ill., with his wife Rebecca Thacher Morrison of Burlington and Boston, Mass. Letters, 1851-1856, concern Morrison's unsuccessful attempts to establish himself in merchandising in Illinois, Michigan, and Winona, Minn. Civil War letters, 1862-1865, relate to his service with the 8th New York Regiment in northern Virginia. |
