Joseph Price (1835-1895) of Wilmington, N.C., worked in the United States Revenue Marine Service before the Civil War and served as a commander in the Confederate Navy.

The collection includes a few letters along with bills and receipts, newspaper clippings, and miscellaneous other items of Joseph Price, pertaining to his family and personal life, property, and affiliations with local organizations. There is no material about his work in the United States Revenue Marine Service before the Civil War, or his exploits as a commander in the Confederate Navy. Items after 1895 are scattered papers of his sons and one letter from Thomas J. Gause, a soldier in the 115th Machine Gun Battalion, American Expeditionary Forces, 1918. Other letters in the collection are from Louis S. Belden, 1870, and Edward D. Pearsall, 1888-1889.
