Abstract | Martin Moser was a farmer of Alamance County, N.C. The collection contains letters, 1840-1859, received by Moser and his wife, Polly D. Robertson Moser, from friends and relatives in the Moser, Robertson, Clapp, and Fogleman families in North Carolina, Kentucky, and Illinois, concerning family members, friends, and daily activities; three Confederate tax-in-kind returns of Martin Moser, 1863- 1865, and scattered letters from Confederate soldiers in northern Virginia, 1862-1864, and from sailors at Wilmington, N.C., and on board the C.S.S. Neuse at Kinston, N.C., 1864; business and personal papers 1873-circa 1905, of Thaddeus Lucian Moser (died 1915) of Rock Creek, Alamance County, N.C.; "Papa's Memory of the Civil War," (10 pages) written by D. H. Tuttle in 1937; and other items. |
