Abstract | William Franklin Strowd (1832-1911) of Orange County, N.C. and Chatham County, N.C., served in the Confederate army, was a member of the North Carolina state constitutional convention, 1875, and was a Populist congressman, 1895-1899. The collection includes a copy of the will, 1755, of Alexander Carson of Orange County, N.C.; an arithmetic exercise book, 1820; scattered deeds and business papers, 1854- 1898, of William F. William Franklin Strowd (1832-1911) of Orange and Chatham counties, N.C., served in the Confederate army, was a member of the North Carolina state constitutional convention, 1875, and a Populist congressman, 1895-1899. In 1899 he resumed his agricultural pursuits in Chatham County. In 1908 he retired to Chapel Hill, N.C., where he lived with his son until his death.
