Chiefly correspondence and research materials related to journalist and author Willie Morris, largely relating to Morris's career in New York, N.Y., as editor of Harper's magazine, and to his novels North Toward Home (1967) and The Last of the Southern Girls (1973). Materials include correspondence, clippings, and notes related to an interview with Morris conducted by Robert H. Moore in 1970 and published in the Mississippi Review in 1974 as "The Last Months at Harper's: Willie Morris in Conversation." Chief correspondents include James Dickey, Willie Morris, Albert Murray, George Plimpton, and Gordon Weaver. Clippings include articles written by and about Willie Morris, collected as background research for Moore's writing and teaching about Morris. Teaching materials include lecture notes and discussion handouts collected by Moore for courses on southern literature taught at the University of Maryland, circa 1974.
Note that Robert H. Moore's contextual notes on this group of materials are filed at the beginning of the subseries. His original folder titles have been retained in the finding aid in his original order, and folders are included with manuscript materials. Some of Moore's folders have notes written on them related to the contents.
Note that original cassette titles have, for the most part, been retained.
