Abstract The Colonial Dames of America, founded in 1890, is an international society of women whose direct ancestors held positions of leadership in the Thirteen Colonies. Headquarted in New York City, N.Y., the organization's goals include historical education and preservation. The collection consists of organizational records, membership materials, and financial records relating to the Chapel Hill, N.C., Chapter XXIX of the Colonial Dames of America. Organizational records include programs, policies, invitations, annual reports, and general societal information. Membership materials include contact lists and correspondence concerning dues and new memberships. Financial records include bank statements, receipts from society outings, and records of paid membership dues.
