Sociologist Richard A. Lamanna was a doctoral student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the 1960s.

The collection contains color slides and digital images of marches and protests for civil rights and social justice in Chapel Hill, N.C., and Washington, D.C., 1963-1964. Included are images from the August 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
