Abstract | Amory Thomas-Jimeno was a French novelist and short story writer who lived in Bern, Switzerland. In addition to works of fiction, she also wrote literary studies and biographical essays. Thomas-Jimeno was born in 1932 in France; was married to Juan Jimeno, a biochemist and painter; and died 30 September 2004. The collection includes photocopies of typescripts of works by Amory Thomas-Jimeno and publications, correspondence, audio cassettes, videotapes, and photographs. Included is a long letter dated February 1984 in which Thomas-Jimeno discussed the progress of her literary career and the influence of various writers, particularly Andre Maurois and Ernest Hemingway, on her work. Also included are audio cassettes and videotapes relating to Colette, Andre Maurois, and others. Photographs are chiefly of Thomas-Jimeno and family members. All materials are in French. |

Writings, correspondence, audio cassettes, pictures, and other material of Amory Thomas-Jimeno. The writings are printed copies of works by Thomas-Jimeno. The correspondence consists almost entirely of letters from Thomas-Jimeno to Judy and Stirling Haig of Chapel Hill, N.C. Many articles, pictures, and other items were enclosed with the letters and are filed with them. There are also a few letters from Stirling Haig to Thomas-Jimeno. Audio cassettes include one entitled "La Source" (1992) and four labeled "Amory Pour Andre Maurois" (1987). Photographs are of Thomas-Jimeno; her husband, Juan Jimeno; and Clothilde and Jeremy Thomas. Many other pictures were enclosed with letters and may be found in the correspondence files. All materials are in French.
Correspondence is chiefly between Juan and Amory Thomas-Jimeno and the Haigs. A number of photographs are enclosed with the letters. The audio cassette is of "Le voyage d'ete," recorded in 1983, but done for the 1982 "Schutbertiade"; the videotapes are two copies of "Oeuvres pour oeuvres, dons pour dons," recorded by Juan and Amory Thomas-Jimeno in 1995 for Racine on Swiss television.
