Walker A. Long is a white physician and medical researcher from Smithfield, N.C. He received his bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature in 1971 and his doctorate of Medicine in 1976 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Long was a faculty member in the UNC School of Medicine from 1993 to 1998. He edited the book Fetal and Neonatal Cardiology (1990), which looks at fetal and infant heart issues.
