Abstract |
The recording made in circa 1989 by Laura Orleans, a folklore graduate student at
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, contains selected songs performed
by the klezmer musical group Die Yiddishe Bande founded by fiddler Bert Chessin and
based in Chapel Hill, N.C. Acquired as part of the Southern Folklife Collection.

Laura Orleans did her graduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill and is the executive director of the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center in New
Bedford, Mass.
Die Yiddishe Bande was a klezmer band founded by fiddler Bert Chessin and based in
Chapel Hill, N.C. in the late 1980s.
