Charles Kelly Beam is a white business management and utilities professional of Cherryville, N.C. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1989 with a degree in industrial relations.

Audiocassette recording, with accompanying transcript, of interviews and tales told by Joe Goins, Max E. Beam, and Ralph Abernathy, all truck drivers and residents of Cherryville, N.C. Charles K. Beam, a white industrial relations student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, recorded the interviews on 18 March 1989 as part of class project for a folklore course taught by Daniel W. Patterson. The recording relates to Charles K. Beam's term paper titled "Truck Driver Tales: An Oral Tradition of Cherryville, N.C." The collection also contains a copy of the paper and a handwritten note from Beam to Patterson.
