Abstract |
The recordings on audio cassette tapes contain live performances by western music
singing group Sons of the Pioneers on KERA Radio broadcast from Dallas, Tex., in 1977.
Robert L. Huffman of Portland Ore., donated the tapes in 1981. Acquired as part of
the Southern Folklife Collection.

Sons of the Pioneers is a western music singing group specializing in cowboy songs.
The group has had numerous line-ups that have included Bob Nolan and Roy Rogers and
has been performing since 1933.
KERA Radio broadcast a mix of news and music, including locally produced music shows,
from Dallas, Tex., beginning in 1974. In 2000 KERA FM, which is owned by North Texas
Public Broadcasting Inc., became a member station of National Public Radio.
Robert L. Huffman of Portland Ore., donated the tapes in 1981. No additional information
about Huffman was available with the collection materials.
