Abstract The collection contains two sound recordings of the Durham Rangers Old Time String Band. Banjo player Michael Fishback is the founding member and leader of the musical group from Durham and Chapel Hill, N.C. The recordings of traditional Appalachian and Cajun music are titled Twenty Years: Durham Rangers Old Time String Band and Public Domain: Durham Rangers Old Time String Band. Acquired as part of the Southern Folklife Collection.

The Durham Rangers Old Time String Band founded by banjo player Michael Fishback in Durham, N.C., played traditional Appalachian and Cajun music. The band's lineup, which changed over the years, featured Carl Jones, Ken Bloom, Jon Newlin, and Tim Wells.
