In the fall of 2003 the James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence University of North Carolina at Chapel hosted a concert series titled "Thursdays on the Terrace." Performers included Pura Fé and Willie Lory (4 September), Kwabena Osea Appiagyei (11 September), David Evans (16 September), Branchettes (18 September), UNC Brass Chamber Ensemble (2 October), Bobby Rush and Band (2 October), Cool John Ferguson (16 October), Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard (28 October), Southern Culture on the Skids (30 October), Thomas Cooper (6 November), UNC Jazz Combo (13 November), UNC Guitar Ensemble (20 November), and DJ Pez (Lem Butler) and Cream De La (4 December).

The collection consists of posters, recordings, and a schedule related to the 2003 James E. Johnston Center Thursdays on the Terrace Series of musical performances. Posters include a poster produced by the James E. Johnston Center for the music series, as well as a Bobby Rush Live poster related to the series. Artists featured on the audio and video recordings include Pura Fé, Willie French Lowry, Kwabena Osei Appiagyei, David Evans, Branchettes, Bobby Rush, and Cool John Ferguson. Audio recordings are on audiocassette and digital audio tape (DAT), while video recordings are on MiniDV.
