Abstract | Katherine R. Roberts has held a joint appointment in the Curriculum in American Studies and the Curriculm in Folklore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 2006. Her research interests are centered on material culture. The collection consists of audio recordings of oral history interviews, tape logs, student papers, a cookbook, and a course syllabus relating to Katherine R. Roberts's folklore and American Studies classes on material culture and the American landscape. Interviews were conducted by Roberts's students with North Carolina residents engaged in cooking, sewing and quilting, house building, wine making, and other types of craftwork. |

Katherine R. Roberts, Ph.D., has held a joint appointment in the Curriculum in American Studies and the Curriculum in Folklore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 2006. Her research interests center on material culture, with a particular emphasis on landscapes and the social use and meaning of the built environment. Before her appointment at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she taught writing and literature in the English and Modern Languages departments at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette and was a Fulbright Lecturer at Hassan II University in Mohammedia, Morocco.
