||The collection of 103 audio discs was assembled by Amos and Ruth Fowler of Chapel
Hill, N.C., who were collectors of antique music players such as gramophones. The
Berliner and shellac 78 rpm discs represent some of the earliest formats of sound
recordings that were mass produced for commercial distribution. Acquired as part of
the Southern Folklife Collection.
