Southern Culture on the Skids (SCOTS), a surf rock and rockabilly music group, was founded in Chapel Hill, N.C., in 1983. Original members of the band are guitarist and vocalist Richard (Rick) Miller, lead vocalist Stan Lewis, bassist Leslie Land, and drummer Chip Shelby. Current members are Rick Miller, bassist and singer Mary Huff, and drummer Dave Hartman.

Sound recordings consist of multitrack masters related to the band's 1995 release Dirt Track Date (DGC) and a 12" LP test pressing of Zombified (2001, Kudzo Records). The collection also includes track sheets and lyric sheets related to the Dirt Track Date multitrack masters found in the collection.
